Daily Exercise and Mental health
I was not always this person who valued exercises- Be it physical or mental, so much but I learned it the hard way.
Even though I am someone who changed her profession from being a budding journalist to a wellness coach (for my physical health), I slowly realized the benefit of exercising not only for my body but also my mind.
Losing yourself in this world is easy and we all feel a little lost sometimes and it is not easy to find your ground once you lose yourself. Today, I want to talk about the importance of physical exercise to regain mental peace.
I have lost many things in life which made me suffer in every way but every time I have landed in that situation, I have realized if anything helped me in the long run, it was the Exercise – physical and mental.
Confusions:
who you are, what you have, where have you lost yourself, why did it happen etc:
I can go on & on and we all go through these phases at some stage of our lives.
And it’s absolutely okay. Its alright if that happens. After all, we have been conditioned as humans & conditioned humans do have expectations, plannings etc.
First of all, I would not wish for anyone to land there but if that’s the case- let’s talk about how something as simple and easy as exercising helps.
When we exercise- In our brain, chemicals are stimulated that improve our mood and the parts of the brain responsible for memory and learning. Now we all know, we are the end products of our past experiences and that’s where the memory and learnings come from.
Once the chemicals ( like endorphins and serotonin) are stimulated and released, there is a feel-good factor. It can also get you out in the world, help to reduce any feelings of loneliness and isolation, and put you in touch with other people. Not only does it help us with our mood but also helps to improve our sleep, which is important in many different ways.
When we go through difficult times, we want to be left alone and we get isolated as our happy hormones are way down than expected. And if you are someone like me, then you would not even want to have human company at all for some time.
So, the best thing to do would be TO EXERCISE. If you exercise regularly, it can reduce your stress and symptoms of mental health conditions like depression and anxiety, and help with the recovery from mental health issues.
“Quiet the mind and the soul will speak”
– this is a very well known saying. BUT that’s the most important and most difficult thing to do.
When we exercise, blood gets pumped to the brain, which makes us think more clearly and calmly because it freshens us up. Why do I always ask you to focus on your breath while exercising- Because that feeds you on fresh oxygen and which helps in clearing your thoughts. Which, is a huge part of our mental health.
Breathing plays an important role in our mental health. Again, as mentioned in my last blog- the Only companion from birth to death (https://livewithcf.com/2018/12/22/only-companion-from-birth-to-death-our-breath/) is our breath and you might notice that it changes in every situation.
I just thought of a small and quick Breathing Exercise for calming down your brain immediately when having an attack of anxiety, nervousness, sadness etc because of various reasons.
But if longer breaths create any anxiety, there is no need to push yourself. The most important thing is that the exhale is longer than the inhale, not the absolute length of the breath.
Set a timer and breathe this way for at least five minutes! You will see a difference in your mood.
But then, as I say exercising be that in the gym, yoga, pilates, Zumba etc. will help you better. Though I know Its difficult to get yourself up on the floor when you are down and upset: But then it’s your journey- the world will continuously pull you down, people will let you down and loved ones will hurt you at some stage of life. So don’t let all these things hold you back because at the end of the day- It’s your life that matters the most and the quality of it.
Take care of yourself, be the person who you really are, don’t lose hope in love and life, Do good to yourself first and then to others. You can share only if you have something to share. So YOURSELF is the priority.
Write back to me and let me know if this was helpful.
Will write soon about many other things in my life.
Love

Aroubha another wonderful , meaningful thoughts and experiences put together, first would thank you a ton for this blog you have come up with making aware of things and how important one’s health is.
Reading your blogs are so motivating,!!! Practising it and injecting that in our blood and body physically and mentally would be worth so much.
We are all coded and programmed, when we start finding the loop and redesign the code within ourself , that is when we are admired and, really inspired. Those inspirations when implemented will have a very positive impact. And that’s how our brains will start concentrating more over it.
Thank you once again for this wonderful fact. Great to see you with loads and loads of blogs with so much information. You are truly motivational.
Loads of Love to you 😊
